Next to the aim of funding research, a goal of the Nina Foundation is to setup specialized knowledge centres on Angelman Syndrome. In a first step two grants were submitted to the Dutch government. One grant for a doctor specialised on Angelman, the other grant for knowledge transfer from Italy on the communication methods applied there.

With these grants a doctor specially trained and focused will be able to treat all Angelman Syndrome patients in the Netherlands. Thereby offering optimum help and guidance to the patient.

In addition a communication therapy that is applied in Italy will be also brought to the Netherlands. This communication therapy is very effective in Italy.
